Transfer & Adult Student Admission Requirements

Please read this page carefully before submitting your application.

Qualified applicants are admitted regardless of gender, race, color, age, veteran status, ethnic origin or physical ability. The credentials of each applicant are individually evaluated, with consideration given to academic record, entrance examination scores, and evidence of motivation of college studies. The college reserves the right to deny admission to any applicant.

Admission Status

Clear Admission
Students are admitted clear to the college, with no restrictions, when the following criteria are met:
  • 2.5 cumulated grade point average from all previously attended institutions
  • 20 ACT and/or 1000 SAT (if no previous transfer credit)
  • Personal essay
  • Letter of Recommendation (for nursing applicants only)
  • Letter of Good Standing (for nursing applicants only if attendance in a previous nursing program)
  • Personal interview (strongly encouraged but not required)

Conditional Admission
Students may be admitted on a conditional basis if they do not meet all of the requirements for clear admission. Students admitted on a conditional basis may be limited to 12 credit hours per semester for their first year.

Students who do not meet all the requirements for clear admission may also be considered for admission into the Program for Academic Success (PAS). The following criteria are evaluated:
  • Multiple withdrawals and repeated courses from other colleges
  • Weak high school curriculum or missing units of academic courses
  • College or high school grade point average below 2.5
  • ACT score below 17 or SAT score below 850
You will be notified in writing if you are admitted to the PAS program or encouraged to participate.

Provisional Admission
A student may be admitted to Ursuline College on a provisional basis when a partial or unofficial transcript has been received. Provisional students may register for classes for one semester; however, they MUST have a complete file and be officially accepted to the College before registering for any subsequent semester. When the student's file is complete, her/his admission status will be changed to "clear."

Students Not Seeking a Degree
A student may be admitted with non-degree seeking status when she or he wishes to earn credit without completing all formal application procedures required of degree-seeking students. A student who enters Ursuline College with non-degree seeking status and subsequently wishes to pursue a degree must make formal application according to the admission procedures outlined in this section.

Personal Interview

While a personal interview is not required for admission, we encourage applicants to visit the campus and consider interviewing. It gives the Admission staff a chance to get to know you and your goals, and you get to experience the campus first-hand. We would be pleased to arrange a campus tour or visit, complete with a sampling of actual classes. Campus visits can be scheduled Monday-Friday from 8:30-5:00 and in the evening and on Saturdays by appointment. Call the Office of Admission at (440) 449-4203 or 1-888-URSULINE to schedule an appointment, or schedule a visit online.
