Tips from Counselors

  • Visit the schools you are strongly considering -- more than once. Only by being on campus will you get an honest feeling about the school.
  • Trust your instincts and gut feelings. This is the college you will be attending for 4 years (not your parents, your friends, or your boyfriend/girlfriend).
  • Talk to the students, tour guides, and professors that you see on campus during your visit. Ask them things you really want to know because they know the school better than anyone!
  • Apply early (October of your Senior year). Then you can relax and enjoy your Senior year.
  • Inquire early about scholarships. Colleges and universities have individual deadlines and you don't want to miss them.
  • Consider spending the night on campus with a student host. If you want to live on campus, this will give you a taste of student life.
  • Most important, enjoy your college search! It can be a stressful time, but make the best of it.
