Loans

Ursuline works with Great Lakes Higher Education Corporation, a loan guarantee agency, to provide loans to students with financial need. All loan applicants must complete the FAFSA each year. New Ursuline students also must complete Loan Entrance Counseling before any student loans can be released to their accounts. This can happen in three ways:
  • At your New Student Orientation.
  • In person, in the Student Service Center.
  • Online, at Your e-Counselor.

First-time Stafford loan applicants
After filing the FAFSA, you will receive an Award Notification letter and a Loan Request Form from the federal government. This Loan Request informs our office of how much you wish to borrow. In order for any student to receive a Stafford Loan, a Loan Request Form must be completed and returned to the Ursuline Student Service Center. Once we receive it from you, we will send the information electronically to Great Lakes Higher Education.

Great Lakes will generate a Master Promissory Note (MPN), which you will sign. The MPN eliminates the need for a repeat borrower to complete a new Stafford Loan application each year. Once a student signs this MPN, it will remain on file with the loan processor for up to ten years.

Repeat Stafford loan applicants
You must file the FAFSA each year in order to receive the Stafford Loan. After filing the FAFSA, you will receive an Award Notification letter and a Loan Request Form from the federal government. This Loan Request informs our office of how much you wish to borrow. Complete the Request Form and return it to the Ursuline Student Service Center. Once we receive it from you, we will send the information electronically to Great Lakes Higher Education. Your MPN (see above) remains on file from the previous year.

Parent Loan Pre-Approvals
