Transfer & Adult Students: How to Apply for Financial Aid
Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)
Don't delay: Any student wishing to apply for financial aid should complete the FAFSA as soon after January 1st as possible. You must complete this form each year and be sure to list Ursuline College's School Code (003134) so that we will receive the processed results. You can complete the FAFSA in three different ways:
- FAFSA on the Web at www.fafsa.ed.gov. You will need a PIN (personal identification number) in order to apply online. If you did not receive a PIN number via mail or email, you can apply for one by going to the "Getting Started" tab on this website, or go to www.pin.ed.gov to request a PIN number. Both parents and students can apply for PIN numbers and use them as "signatures" on the FAFSA on the Web.
- The Renewal FAFSA application. Mailed directly to the home of previous FAFSA filers from the Department of Education. Students who filed electronically will not receive a Renewal FAFSA, but a PIN number to file electronically again.
- The paper FAFSA application. FAFSAs are available in the Ursuline Student Service Center, or from your high school guidance counselor.
FAFSA processing takes approximately 4-6 weeks. Then you will receive a Student Aid Report (SAR), and the same results will be electronically sent to each college you listed on your application.
Ursuline College Supplemental Application
Returning students should also complete the Ursuline College Supplemental Application. This application will be mailed to all current students in late December or early January each year. If you do not receive one, applications are available in the Student Service Center in Mullen 203.
Applying for State Aid
Ohio residents need not complete a separate application for state funds. Information is sent to the Ohio Board of Regents upon completion of the FAFSA.
Applying for Private Scholarships
Remember that Ursuline offers several of its own scholarships to transfer students. Ursuline is also a member of fastweb.com, the largest and most complete scholarship search on the Internet. It provides access to a database of more than 400,000 private sector scholarships, fellowships, grants and student loans. FastWeb is a free service.
