How do I find a book in the library?


Use the library's online catalog to find the call number and location for a book in the library. Click the Catalog link on the library homepage. The catalog includes books, media, and some periodical titles. If you have trouble locating any item, please ask the Reference Librarian for assistance.


How can I find articles in the library?


The library subscribes to hundreds of print magazines and has access to thousands of additional journals online. To find an article, click on Indexes/Databases and make a selection. For general information, try Academic Search Complete. It can be difficult determining which index to use, but our Reference Librarians can help you. We welcome your questions!


Does the library have videos?


The Media Center has a collection of videos in various formats as well as CDs, audio cassettes, and 35mm slides. Although the primary function of the Media Center collection is to support the curriculum and its intended use is for the faculty, selected items may be checked out by students for use off-campus. The Media Center staff will be happy to help you.


Can I borrow a laptop from the library?


Yes! The library has laptops and flash drives you can borrow.


Can I use my own laptop or other wireless device in the library?


Yes. Wi-Fi is available throughout the building.


Do you have textbooks?


We generally do not buy textbooks for classes. Occasionally, you can find one through OhioLINK. We do have a collection of textbooks and other curriculum materials for grades K-12 for use by education students.


My instructor says I need to find "scholarly" web sites if I use the Internet to do research for my paper. Can the library help me?


Our Reference Librarians are experts at finding online information. We have compiled some authoritative online resources for you in Weblinks on the Library home page. Check the Assignment Help Center to see if the library has compiled a specialized list of resources for your class or subject. And, as always, just ask us for help!


Can I eat in the library?


You can, in these designated areas: the lower level vending machine area and the second floor deck. Covered drinks are welcome throughout the library.


How can I tell what books I have checked out?


Click Your Library Record on the right side of the Library homepage to access your Library account.


Can I renew my library books?


Generally, yes. You can do it online from Your Library Record or call the Circulation Desk (440-449-4202) for assistance.


What do I do if the library doesn't have what I want?


You can request books from other academic libraries in Ohio by clicking on the OhioLINK button in the catalog. If you find what you want, just click on the "Request" button and follow the directions. The item will be delivered to Ursuline within a few days. If you still cannot locate a book, we can usually get it for you through interlibrary loan. This may take several weeks.


Where do I go to get reserve materials?


Materials that faculty put on Reserve can be borrowed from the first floor circulation desk. Media Reserves are located in the lower level Media Center. In the library catalog, use the links on the right side of the screen to search Course Reserves by Course or Instructor.


I don't have my student ID. How can I find my ID number?


Here are the steps for finding your ID# in My Ursuline

  1. Click on My Ursuline from the college web site
  2. Enter your Ursuline login name and password
  3. Click Personal Info (in parentheses right next to Logout)
  4. Under My Info, click the Biographical Info tab
  5. ID Number is listed under your name, address, and personal information.


Why does it say that my ID expired or is not valid?

Can I ask the library to buy a book for the collection?


Our Library Director welcomes suggestions from all members of the Ursuline Community. Contact her through our suggestion box, by e-mail (bbelkin@ursuline.edu), or by telephone (440-646-8184). She can also explain what materials fit within the library's collection development guidelines.


What can I do if I can't find the answer to my question?
